Artists

Szinte, Gábor (1928-2012)

Biography:

In 1952 he graduates from the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts.
Between 1957-1959 he studies at the Accademia delle Belle Arti, in Florence.
1955-1956 Derkovits Scholarship
Since 1951 he has been an exhibiting artist.
Since 1960 he has been a stage-designer at Madách and Víg Theatres. He has designed 115 stage scenes so far.
Since 1971 he has been a university lecturer at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts.
From 1978 for 13 years, he was a senior lecturer at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, taught Scenic Studies, and re-organised Hungarian scene-setting and costume design. In his artworks he mixes New Realism and Surrealism. He usually paints huge-sized, very colourful pictures, that can be defined by objectivism and cynical honesty. He also makes graphics, wooden intarsia and glass windows; he is referred to as the re-organizer of Hungarian scene-setting and costume design.

We must mention his remarkable work of art, the 13 parts, 110 m2 fresco, which can be found in the Saint Simon Cathedral, Aurillac, France. The magnificent piece of art depicts Pope Sylvester’s life and St Stephan’s coronation. It was sanctified in Summer, 2005. He has published several studies on Art History and History in different magazines. In his “tourists’ guide” to Italy, he analyzes paintings, sculptures and buildings, and appreciates their makers. By doing this, he enchants the reader with everlasting, intellectual joy.

His masters: Aurél Bernáth, István Szőnyi, Róbert Berény
